Tripura MBBS Student Saptarshi Das Among Four Killed in Horrific Road Accident in Uttar Pradesh; CM Manik Saha Pays Last Respects
Tripura, 08 Dec 2025: In a tragic incident, four MBBS students, including Saptarshi Das from Agartala, lost their lives in a devastating road accident on the Delhi–Lucknow National Highway in Amroha district of Uttar Pradesh.
All four were students of Shri Venkateshwara University and were undergoing their internship. Their vehicle reportedly rammed into a stationary truck, leading to their tragic deaths on the spot.
Today, after the mortal remains of Saptarshi Das were brought back home, Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha, Agartala Municipal Corporation Mayor Dipak Majumder, Congress MLA Sudip Roy Barman, Tripura Pradesh Congress President Ashish Kumar Saha, and several others visited his residence to pay their respects.
The Chief Minister expressed profound grief over the heartbreaking loss.
CM Dr. Manik Saha said:
“Different reports were coming in—there were four people in the car, and most probably all four have died. Among them was Tripura’s Saptarshi Das from the same house in Ramnagar.
What I learned is that his father works in LIC, his mother is a teacher in City Convent School, and he was their only child. What could be more tragic than this?
We made continuous efforts from the office. The flight has already taken off; we tried many times. Finally, after six days, the body could be brought here.
What can I say in such a situation? There are no words for such a painful incident. I can only pray that God gives strength to his parents. Such a loss can never be compensated.
It is extremely unfortunate—he was their only child, and there was no possibility of getting him back. I pray that God gives them the strength to endure this grief.”
The untimely death of the young medical student has cast a pall of sorrow across the state, with condolences pouring in from all sections of society.
