Tripura, 08 Dec 2025: Kadamtala Police have arrested a notorious drug trafficker and seized heroin worth several lakhs from South Kadamtala area on Sunday late night.
According to police sources, during routine night patrolling, officers noticed a suspicious youth in the South Kadamtala locality. When police attempted to stop him, he tried to flee. He was immediately detained by the patrolling team.
Suspecting possession of illegal substances, the team informed Kadamtala Police Station Officer-in-Charge Jayanta Debnath. Under his leadership, Dharmanagar SDPO Jayanta Karmakar, DCM officials and a forensic team reached the spot. During the search, police recovered 38 grams of heroin hidden inside a soap box, packed in a plastic pouch.



The arrested accused has been identified as Ambar Ali alias Pir (25), son of Ballu Miah, a resident of Ward No. 1 under South Kadamtala Gram Panchayat. OC Jayanta Debnath confirmed that a case has been registered under the NDPS Act and an investigation has begun. On Monday, the accused was produced before the Dharmanagar Court with a prayer for police remand.
Police further revealed that the seized heroin has a black-market value of several lakhs. They also stated that Ambar Ali has a long history of involvement in drug trafficking, theft and robbery. Multiple cases against him are pending both in Tripura and in neighbouring Assam. Police have initiated a detailed investigation into the entire network.
