Tripura, 4 Dec 2025: The seven-day NSS Special Camp at Ramnagar Higher Secondary English Medium School began on Thursday and will continue from December 4 to December 10. This year, the camp is being organized with the theme “Viksit Bharat @2047.”
On the inaugural day, the event was formally opened by Ramnagar MLA and Mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation, Deepak Majumder. Members of the school’s managing committee, along with teachers and staff, were also present.
Speaking to the media, Mayor Majumder said that beyond academic knowledge, NSS camps teach students the values needed to contribute to society. “NSS helps shape individuals into responsible human beings who are willing to work for others. Through such camps, students learn various life skills and later dedicate themselves to national development with a strong sense of responsibility,” he added.
He highlighted that NSS in Tripura began in 1976 with only 600 volunteers, whereas today it has expanded to 400 units across the state.
Discussing the theme Viksit Bharat @2047, the Mayor noted that earlier NSS activities mainly involved simple tasks like cleaning school premises and promoting environmental awareness. “Now, NSS has taken up major developmental initiatives under Viksit Bharat. Volunteers are spreading awareness about various government schemes to ensure maximum benefits reach the people,” he said.
He also mentioned that NSS units are now adopting villages and working actively at the grassroots level. “NSS volunteers are showing a renewed commitment to shaping a better society. Their mindset reflects the vision of building a new and developed India,” the Mayor stated.
