Tripura, Dec 3: Tripura Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha today inaugurated a newly built CNG station at Killa Road, Udaipur, marking another major step in the state’s efforts to expand clean and environment-friendly energy usage. Speaking at the event, the Chief Minister said the government is prioritising wider adoption of CNG to reduce pollution, ensure fuel efficiency and promote sustainable development.
He noted that the new station will greatly benefit local residents, especially vehicle owners, who will now have easier access to CNG. The initiative, he said, will also help reduce household fuel expenses and enhance environmental safety. The CM added that as more CNG stations are set up in different districts, the state’s dependence on conventional fuels will gradually decline.

Highlighting global trends, the Chief Minister said CNG and PNG are among the safest, cleanest and most reliable fuels in modern times. With PNG being supplied 24/7 to households, safety and convenience have significantly improved, reducing the risk associated with LPG cylinder use. He said the government aims to create a strong foundation for clean energy by expanding CNG and PNG infrastructure across Tripura.
The Chief Minister further stated that the new station will contribute to reducing vehicular emissions and improving air quality. He encouraged all departments to adopt green practices and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to promoting environmentally responsible projects statewide.
Industry Minister Pranajit Singh Roy, speaking at the programme, said the Killa Road CNG station will play a vital role in supporting the region’s development. Local residents will now have access to clean gas at an affordable price, which will also boost economic activities. He emphasized that the expansion of CNG and PNG in the state is opening new employment opportunities as well.
