Agartala: Dec 02. The National Federation of New States (NFNS) and the Indigenous Peoples Front of Tripura (IPFT) will jointly organise a one-day sit-in demonstration at New Delhi’s Jantar Mantar on December 15, pressing for the creation of a separate state and the passage of the 125th Constitutional Amendment Bill, 2019 during the upcoming Winter Session of Parliament. Representatives from all North-Eastern states under the NFNS banner are expected to join the programme, while IPFT has set a target of sending around 100 delegates from Tripura.
IPFT will place its long-standing demands before the Centre, including the elevation of the TTAADC to the Tipra Territorial Council (TTC) in line with the recommendation of the Tripura Legislative Assembly’s Council of Ministers, along with the urgent passage of the 125th Amendment Bill within the Winter Session. The party will also request all MDCs of every ADC in the Northeast, along with all MLAs, to write to the Union Home Minister within December, urging him to ensure passage of the Bill.
To ensure representation from across the organisation, IPFT has instructed every division to send at least three delegates. All travel arrangements, including train ticket bookings, have been assigned to the IPFT Treasurer and the Youth IPFT Treasurer, and participating delegates have been asked to coordinate directly with them for their tickets and other requirements.
