Agartala, Sept 26: The Tripura Police have announced elaborate security measures across the state ahead of the upcoming Sharad Utsav festivities.
Director General of Police (DGP) Anurag, addressing a press conference at the state police headquarters today, said that nearly 8,000 security personnel, including 400 women police officers, will be deployed across the state during the festival days.
Senior officials present at the press meet included ADG G.S. Rao, IG (Intelligence) Krishnendu Chakraborty, West Tripura SP Namit Pathak, and SP (Traffic) Kanta Jangir.
Extending his greetings to the people of Tripura, the DGP informed that this year the state will witness 2,965 Durga Pujas, an increase from 2,750 last year. Of these, 772 pujas will be organized in West Tripura district alone.
To ensure foolproof security, 6,550 TSR jawans will be deployed along with 320 police personnel in various districts, and 920 trainee police officers will also be on duty. Additional measures include:
215 extra vehicles for patrolling 320 new CCTV cameras installed across the state, with puja organizers instructed to install cameras at pandal premises 240 Police Assistance Booths with security personnel on duty Deployment of wireless networks, sniffer dogs, bomb squads, watch towers, and plainclothes police officers
Special traffic restrictions will be in place in Agartala city. From Saptami to Dashami, between 5 PM and 1 AM, no-entry rules will be enforced for vehicles. Goods vehicles will only be allowed to load and unload between 6 AM and 5 PM.
The DGP further assured that steps will also be taken to control noise pollution during the festivities. Citizens can dial 112 for any emergency assistance.
Additional security will be provided at railway stations, passenger hubs, and sensitive areas along the India-Bangladesh international border.
Appealing to the people of Tripura, DGP Anurag urged everyone to celebrate Sharad Utsav without fear, as the police are fully prepared to ensure a safe and joyous festival.
