Tripura, 23 Sep 2025: The Khasia Mangal area, adjacent to Teliamura Government Degree College and under the Teliamura police station, within the Krishnapur Assembly Constituency, turned tense on Tuesday morning as locals staged a sudden road blockade demanding proper drinking water supply.
According to residents, about a month ago, the area’s drinking water pump was shifted due to road repair work. Since then, water supply has been completely disrupted, leaving around 70 families in severe distress. Despite repeated complaints to the authorities, no solution was provided, which led the agitated villagers to block the road.
As news of the blockade spread, Teliamura Sub-Divisional Magistrate’s office DCM Pradip Kumar Sarkar, Teliamura Police Sub-Inspector Vidya Debbarma, along with other officials, rushed to the spot and tried to pacify the protesters. However, the villagers remained firm, stating that the blockade would continue until officials from the Drinking Water and Sanitation (DWS) department arrived and assured them of a solution.
At the time of reporting, the blockade had continued for about an hour. No DWS officials were present at the site. However, DCM Pradip Kumar Sarkar assured that the issue would be resolved at the earliest, and once DWS officials arrived, they would visit the affected areas to initiate corrective measures.
