Agartala, Sept 16: The West Tripura District Administration has cancelled the license of ‘Happiest Hour’, a restaurant-cum-bar located on the rooftop of the UD Building in Agartala.
In an order issued on Tuesday, Dr. Vishal Kumar (IAS), Excise Collector of West Tripura, stated that the license holder, Mr. Gautam Debnath, had repeatedly violated the provisions of the Excise Act.

According to the administration, on September 6, 2025, liquor was being served and consumed at the bar even after 11 PM, violating license conditions. Unauthorized late-night DJ performances and dance events resembling nightclub culture were also organized. CCTV footage confirmed these violations.
Additionally, the licensee failed to submit the mandatory list of employees working at the bar and did not respond to the show-cause notice issued earlier. Authorities concluded that these lapses were deliberate violations.
The order reads: “Under Section 40 (1)(g) of the Tripura Excise Act, 1987, License No. 97 issued in favor of Mr. Gautam Debnath is hereby cancelled with immediate effect.”
The licensee has also been directed to immediately deposit the license document, liquor stock, records, and the CCTV NVR with the District Excise Office. The administration further warned that failure to comply would invite legal action under the Excise Act.
