Tripura, 12 sep 2025: In yet another incident raising questions over security, burglars struck at the Khowai Government Girls’ Higher Secondary School, located barely a stone’s throw from Khowai police station.
According to school authorities, miscreants broke the locks of nine rooms during the night and ransacked nearly 30 almirahs. Cash, valuables, official documents, and even the CCTV distribution box were reported stolen.
A teacher said that the matter came to light on Friday morning when staff arrived for examination duty. “We found the staff room door broken and almirahs damaged. Papers were scattered everywhere. Later, we discovered that nine rooms had been broken into. Police were informed immediately, and they asked us to prepare a list of missing items,” the teacher told reporters.
Police have registered a case and begun investigation. However, the incident has triggered concern among residents and teachers as the school is located in close proximity to the police station.
