Agartala, April 13: The State Election Commission has ordered fresh polling in three booths of the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) elections following reports of irregularities during the voting process.
According to an official communication, re-polling will be conducted in two booths under the 10-Kulai-Champhahour (ST) constituency—3-Bhatimaydan SB School and 17-Ramdev Thakur Para polling stations. The decision was taken after detailed scrutiny of reports submitted by the District Election Officer, the Returning Officer, and other officials associated with the conduct of the elections.
The Commission noted that these reports highlighted discrepancies and incidents during polling hours that were serious enough to compromise the integrity of the electoral process. Consequently, the earlier polling in the identified booths has been annulled, and fresh voting has been deemed necessary to ensure fairness and transparency.
Earlier, re-polling had also been ordered in one polling station under the Pekerjaan-Janmejoynagar constituency, bringing the total number of booths requiring re-election to three across the state.
As per the revised schedule, the re-poll will be held on April 16 between 7 am and 4 pm. Election authorities have stated that all necessary arrangements are being made to ensure that the process is conducted in a peaceful, impartial, and orderly manner. Additional security forces will be deployed in and around the polling stations to prevent any untoward incidents and to instil confidence among voters.
The Commission has appealed to political parties, candidates, and the general public to cooperate fully in maintaining law and order during the re-poll.
The TTAADC elections, which are crucial for governance in the tribal areas of Tripura, have largely witnessed steady voter participation, despite isolated disturbances in certain pockets that necessitated corrective measures.
