Dhalai, Feb 28: In a unique outreach initiative under Police Week 2026, the Dhalai District Police organised a “Role Model Play” at the district police headquarters on Saturday, allowing school students to take on the roles of Superintendent of Police (SP), Additional SP and other senior officers for a day.
The programme aimed to familiarise students with policing responsibilities and inspire them to consider careers in law enforcement, including the Indian Police Service (IPS).
Students were symbolically entrusted with maintaining law and order, sat in the SP’s chair, examined files and experienced first-hand the challenges of police administration. The exercise offered them insight into discipline, public service, and the round-the-clock commitment required in policing.
Deep Rudra Paul, a Class IX student of Kendriya Vidyalaya Ambassa, who played the role of SP, said he felt honoured and motivated. He expressed his ambition to become an IPS officer in the future and thanked the district police for the opportunity.
District Police Superintendent Rushikesh J. Desai stated that multiple programmes have been organised during Police Week 2026, including an anti-drug marathon and a bike rally focused on women’s safety. He said the role-play initiative was designed to motivate young minds and guide them on the path to joining professional services like the IPS.
Senior officers, including the Superintendent of Police and Additional SP, were present at the event to encourage the participants. The initiative concluded with enthusiastic participation from students, reflecting a shared vision of building a responsible and service-oriented future generation.
