Tripura, 28 Feb 2026: In a unique and inspiring initiative marking Police Week 2026, Dhalai District Police on Saturday organised a special “Role Model Play” programme at the district police headquarters, where school students stepped into the shoes of senior police officials for a day.
The atmosphere at the Dhalai District Police Office was notably different, as students from various schools were given an opportunity to experience the functioning of the police department firsthand. The initiative aimed to familiarise young minds with the responsibilities, discipline, and challenges of policing.
As part of the programme, students symbolically took charge of maintaining law and order in the district. They sat in the chairs of key officials, including the Superintendent of Police (SP) and Additional Superintendent of Police (Addl. SP), and got a practical glimpse of administrative work, including handling files and decision-making processes.
The exercise helped students understand the day-to-day challenges faced by police personnel, their commitment to public service round the clock, and the importance of discipline and responsibility in the force.
Deep Rudra Pal, a Class IX student of Ambassa Kendriya Vidyalaya, who played the role of the SP, expressed his excitement, saying he felt honoured to take on the role and experience the responsibilities of a police officer. He said the opportunity has inspired him to pursue a career as an IPS officer in the future. He also thanked the district police administration for organising the programme.
Speaking about the initiative, Dhalai District Superintendent of Police Rushikesh J. Desai said that several programmes have been organised as part of Police Week 2026. These include an anti-drug awareness marathon and a bike rally focused on women’s safety. The role-play programme, held on the third day, was designed to motivate students and give them insight into policing as a profession.
He added that the primary objective of such initiatives is to inspire students to consider careers in public service and to guide them on how to become an IPS officer.
Senior police officials, including the Superintendent of Police, Additional Superintendent of Police, and other officers, were present at the event and encouraged the students.
The young participants displayed enthusiasm and determination, reflecting their aspiration to contribute towards building a better and safer society in the future.
