Sabroom: Feb 26. A district-level Udyam Samagam under the “Procurement and Marketing Support Scheme for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs)” was held on Wednesday at Mukut Auditorium in Santirbazar, organised by Tripura Industrial Development Corporation Limited.
The event was attended by Tripura Governor Indra Sena Reddy Nallu as the chief guest. He was accorded a ceremonial guard of honour by South District Police at Birchandra Manu before visiting a government pig farm under the Animal Resources Development Department. The Governor inspected infrastructure facilities and interacted with officials.
However, allegations of administrative non-cooperation surfaced against Officer-in-Charge Shubhankar Baidya in connection with the Governor’s visit to the pig farm.
At the auditorium programme, welcome remarks were delivered by Himadri Sekhar Nath. Among others present were Additional District Magistrate Hafiz Uddin, South District Sabhadhipati Dipak Dutta, Additional SP Suman Majumdar and Municipal Chairperson Swapna Baidya. Officials briefed participants on various government assistance schemes, procurement policies and marketing support available for MSMEs.
Several Self-Help Groups (SHGs) set up stalls to showcase locally manufactured products. The Governor interacted with SHG members and appreciated their entrepreneurial efforts.
Meanwhile, political circles have raised concerns alleging that Santirbazar MLA Pramod Reang and South District Chairman of the industrial corporation Suman Debnath were reportedly excluded from the programme.
While the Udyam Samagam witnessed significant participation and promotion of MSME initiatives, the administrative allegations and political controversy have drawn attention beyond the event itself.
