Dharmanagar, Feb 25: In a significant development in the murder case of delivery boy Prosenjit Sarkar, all five accused were produced directly before the court today for the first time since their arrest. Their bail pleas were once again rejected, and they will remain in judicial custody.
According to Public Prosecutor Bishwajit Das, a key procedural step has been completed in the case. The charge sheet has already been submitted, and following today’s hearing, the case has been committed to the Sessions Court for trial.
The five accused are Sangeeta Bhattacharya, Meghdeep Bhattacharya, Piu Dhar, Susmita Bhattacharya and Saurav Bhattacharya.
The case is registered at Dharmanagar Police Station as Case No. 122/2025 and numbered 24/2026 in court records.
All five accused were physically produced before the court instead of via video conference. During the hearing, the defence again sought bail, which was denied.
The prosecution has also filed an application seeking a custody trial, requesting that proceedings be conducted while keeping the accused in judicial custody to ensure a speedy trial. The final decision on this matter will be taken by the Sessions Judge.
Further proceedings in the case are awaited.
