North Tripura: Feb 23: In a continued push to take healthcare services to the grassroots, the Tilthai Primary Health Centre (PHC) in North Tripura organized a free medical check-up and awareness camp at the premises of Trinath Brick Field Industry on Monday. A total of 51 brick kiln workers and their family members underwent health screening during the camp.
Dr. N.H. Bhowmik, who led the medical team, conducted blood pressure, blood sugar and general health examinations. Essential medicines were distributed free of cost. According to official data, three individuals were diagnosed with hypertension, two with diabetes, seven with fever and two with diarrhoea. All identified patients were provided appropriate treatment and medical advice on the spot.
Alongside clinical services, a public health awareness session was conducted focusing on anaemia, hygiene, scabies and water-borne diseases. Health workers emphasized the importance of safe drinking water and regular handwashing, particularly for workers living in brick kiln environments.
The camp was supported by two Multi-Purpose Workers (MPWs), three ASHA workers and one ASHA facilitator. Officials from Tilthai PHC stated that similar outreach initiatives will continue to ensure healthcare access for workers in remote and labour-intensive sectors.
