Dharmanagar: Feb 22. In a tragic accident at Dharmanagar Railway Station, a 60-year-old man lost his life after reportedly slipping while attempting to get down from a moving train on Sunday.
The deceased has been identified as Goshto Bihari Roy (60), a resident of the Dewanpasa area in Dharmanagar.
According to eyewitnesses and railway sources, Roy had gone to the station to see off his daughter. As the train began to depart, he allegedly tried to alight in haste but lost balance and fell into the gap between the train and the platform. He was run over in the incident and sustained critical injuries.
Fire service personnel rushed to the spot and rescued him before shifting him to Dharmanagar District Hospital. However, doctors on duty declared him brought dead after completing medical formalities.
The body has been kept at the hospital morgue for further procedures.
The incident cast a pall of gloom over the railway station area, with shocked passengers and locals expressing grief over the heartbreaking loss. Authorities are yet to issue an official statement regarding the mishap.
