Ambassa, Feb 19: Dhalai district has achieved an impressive 97% immunization coverage among children aged 0–1 years as of February 2026, officials informed during a District-Level Media Sensitization Workshop on Immunization held at the Chief Medical Officer’s conference hall in Ambassa.
The workshop aimed to strengthen collaboration with the media to ensure accurate and timely dissemination of public health information, particularly on life-saving vaccines.
Chief Medical Officer Dr. Apollo Kalai addressed journalists, emphasizing that correct and responsible health reporting plays a crucial role in protecting public interest and ensuring that vaccination awareness reaches every section of society.
District Immunization Officer Dr. Pritam Debbarma presented the current immunization status of the district, highlighting that timely vaccination remains essential to protect children from preventable and potentially fatal diseases. He reiterated the Health Department’s commitment to ensuring that no child in the district is deprived of this critical service.
District Nodal Officer (ASHA) Dr. Sudhir Debbarma underlined the role of ASHA workers at the grassroots level in spreading awareness and mobilizing communities, especially in remote areas. District Programme Manager Dipen Kar discussed strategic planning and management efforts to achieve immunization targets effectively.
At the conclusion of the session, health officials appealed to media representatives to actively support outreach efforts by promoting factual information about immunization benefits, particularly in rural and hard-to-reach areas, to help build a healthier society.
