Tripura, Feb 18: A distribution programme was successfully held today at Dumachhara under the constituency of Minister Bikash Debbarma, highlighting the importance of bamboo craftsmanship and artisan development in the region.
The programme was organised under the “Precinct of Artisan at Home” initiative, where certificates were handed over to artisans who contributed to preparing bamboo-based invitation boxes for the Republic Day Celebration 2026 at Rashtrapati Bhavan.

Addressing the gathering, Minister Bikash Debbarma expressed pride in the talent of local artisans, especially from remote areas. He noted that the region has immense potential and described the initiative as a proud moment for the community. He also emphasized that greater focus will be given to bamboo-based work to strengthen livelihood opportunities.
The Minister further extended his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha for their continued support towards promoting local craftsmanship and development initiatives.
The event was attended by Bamboo Technologies expert Samir Jamatia, who led the design of the prestigious invitation bamboo box for Rashtrapati Bhavan.
Founder of Nokhayung Hamkhrai Society, Billu Jamatia, along with other dignitaries and community members, were also present on the occasion.
The programme reflects a growing effort to strengthen local craftsmanship and create economic opportunities for Indigenous artisans through innovative bamboo-based projects.
