Agartala, 17 Feb 2026: A special awareness campaign on the theme “Child Marriage Free India” was launched on today at a brief programme organized by the Tripura Commission for Protection of Child Rights.
The programme was attended by Chairperson of the Tripura Women Commission, Jharna Debbarma, as the chief guest. Chairperson of the Tripura Commission for Protection of Child Rights, Jayanti Debbarma, along with other officials, was also present on the occasion.
As part of the initiative, three dedicated awareness vehicles have been deployed across West Tripura district to prevent child marriage. These vehicles will carry out extensive campaigns in all panchayats under nine blocks across three subdivisions of the district, reaching out to markets, localities, public gathering places, and rural areas.
On the first day of the campaign, one vehicle covered Mohanpur block, the second operated in Bamutia block, and the third conducted awareness activities across Dukli block.
The campaign will also include the distribution of leaflets and informative materials by the Commission. The initiative aims to educate the public on the social consequences of child marriage, legal provisions, and important aspects of child rights, encouraging community participation in preventing the practice.
