Agartala: Feb 15. Marking the fourth year of its second term, the Udaipur Municipal Council today organised a large-scale blood donation and health camp at Rajarshi Kalakshetra premises, reinforcing its commitment to social responsibility and public welfare.
The programme was inaugurated at 11 am by Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy, who lauded the initiative and encouraged continued public service efforts.
Calling blood donation “a noble act that strengthens the bond of humanity,” the Minister appreciated the elected representatives for extending their responsibilities beyond civic administration to humanitarian causes. He urged the municipal body to sustain such welfare-oriented initiatives in the future.
The event was presided over by Municipal Chairman Shital Chandra Majumdar.
In his address, he stated that the council remains equally focused on public health awareness alongside infrastructure development. He reaffirmed that similar outreach programmes would continue for the benefit of residents.
Among those present were Gomati Zilla Parishad Sabhadhipati Debal Debroy, Assistant Chairman Pradip Debnath, Additional Superintendent of Police Rishabh, Udaipur Sub-Divisional Magistrate Tridib Sarkar, officials of the Health Department, and elected representatives from various wards.
The health camp offered free general check-ups, blood pressure and diabetes screening, along with primary medical consultations. A large number of youths and citizens from different sections of society voluntarily donated blood under the supervision of doctors and health workers.
The programme was conducted in an orderly manner, drawing a positive response from the public and sending a strong message of community solidarity and civic responsibility.
