Tripura, 13 Feb 2026: A devastating fire reduced the house of a daily wage worker’s family to ashes in Unakoti district, leaving them completely homeless. The incident took place opposite the Gournagar Block Office, where the blaze rapidly engulfed the entire dwelling within moments.
While there are differing opinions regarding the cause of the fire, the affected family claims that it was triggered by an electrical short circuit. Upon receiving information, a fire engine rushed to the spot. However, tension prevailed in the area as the vehicle reportedly did not carry sufficient water. Eventually, the fire was brought under control using water sourced from a nearby pond.
Kailashahar police, led by Officer-in-Charge Tapas Malakar along with SI Debabrata Shil and other personnel, reached the scene to manage the situation.
In the fire, all belongings and essential documents of the family of daily wage worker Dayal Bauri were completely destroyed. The family is now forced to live under the open sky in a helpless condition. Local residents have urged the authorities to provide immediate government assistance, stating that it will be impossible for the impoverished family to recover without support.
