Agartala: Feb 10. Feb 9, 2026:
A special health camp under the Pradhan Mantri Surakshit Matritva Abhiyan (PMSMA) was successfully conducted at the Tilthai Primary Health Centre (PHC) under Panisagar Sub-Divisional Hospital in North Tripura on Tuesday.
The camp aimed at ensuring the health and safety of expectant mothers and their unborn children.
A total of 109 pregnant women underwent health check-ups and medical screening during the camp. All examinations were carried out by Dr Neelima Sarkar Nitto, Medical Officer of Tilthai PHC. Notably, none of the women required referral for higher medical treatment, as all were found to be in stable health condition.
During the programme, a health awareness session was also organised for the beneficiaries. Doctors and health staff emphasised the importance of balanced nutrition during pregnancy, including intake of protein, vitamins and calcium, and highlighted measures for prevention of anaemia, stressing regular health check-ups and iron-rich diets.
Along with medical consultations, essential medicines were distributed among the pregnant women. The Health Department also provided nutritional food baskets to support maternal nutrition.
The camp was conducted smoothly with the coordinated efforts of one staff nurse, one multipurpose supervisor and ten ASHA workers, whose teamwork ensured the successful completion of health services for a large number of beneficiaries.
The initiative by Tilthai PHC has been widely appreciated by the local community for strengthening maternal healthcare and promoting safe motherhood.
