Tripura, 07 Feb 2026: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday said that examinations should not be seen as a source of fear, but as a medium to overcome fear and move towards one’s goals. He was interacting with students during the 9th edition of Pariksha Pe Charcha, held at his residence on Lok Kalyan Marg in New Delhi.
Engaging in an informal and interactive discussion with students from different parts of the country, the Prime Minister encouraged them to work towards a bright future and take a collective resolve to build a ‘Viksit Bharat’. He advised students to stay away from unnecessary stress over marks and the so-called “marks obsession”, stressing that society often places excessive emphasis on scores rather than the true impact of education.
PM Modi highlighted the importance of maintaining a healthy balance between marks and skills. He said the next 25 years would be crucial for India, as the nation moves towards the centenary of its Independence, and today’s youth will be the key architects of the country’s future. He urged students to start dreaming and working towards a developed India from now itself. The Prime Minister also appealed to young minds to reduce dependence on foreign products and instead trust and promote indigenous resources and culture.

He urged students to have faith in their knowledge and suggested that staying one step ahead of the teacher’s pace of teaching can make even difficult subjects easier to understand. Stressing regular learning habits, time management, discipline, a healthy lifestyle and physical fitness, he reminded students that examinations are only a part of life and not the final destination. At the end of the interaction, students presented handmade gifts to the Prime Minister, including a painting of Mata Tripurasundari gifted by a student from Tripura.

Meanwhile, in Agartala, the 9th edition of Pariksha Pe Charcha was viewed virtually at Bodhjungnagar (Baradowali) Higher Secondary School, where Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha was present. Education Secretary Milind Ramteke, senior officials of the Education Department, teachers, students and parents also attended the programme.
After the event, the Chief Minister addressed students, parents and teachers in the school hall, elaborating on the themes of Pariksha Pe Charcha and the Prime Minister’s message. He said the programme is not merely an event, but an inspirational guide for students to face examinations with a positive mindset. He noted that the initiative began in 2018 and has been successfully organised by the Union Ministry of Education for the past eight years, with the ninth edition now completed.
Chief Minister Saha said examinations are an opportunity to showcase one’s knowledge, hard work and skills, and should not be a cause of fear. He emphasised that regular study, effective time management, good conduct, physical exercise and self-confidence are essential for success in life. He underlined that self-realisation and personal development form the core of education, which is achievable through quality and meaningful learning.
He also stressed the importance of a healthy relationship between teachers and students, calling upon educators to remain updated and to focus on continuous evaluation of students’ progress.
