Visakhapatnam, Feb 6: In a major crackdown on corruption, the Andhra Pradesh Anti-Corruption Bureau (AP ACB) on Thursday booked a retired Superintending Engineer for allegedly possessing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.
The accused, Kallepalli Srinivasa Rao, formerly served as Superintending Engineer in the Panchayat Raj Department, Visakhapatnam. ACB officials conducted searches at five locations in Visakhapatnam, Saluru and Hyderabad, including his residential premises.
During the searches, officials seized incriminating documents and valuables. The assets allegedly found include three house plots, two residential flats, 18.57 acres of agricultural land, cash worth ₹61.87 lakh, gold weighing about 2.5 kg, silver weighing around 20.3 kg, a Hyundai Accent car, a motorcycle, and other valuable household articles.
ACB officials also identified five bank lockers linked to the accused, which are scheduled to be opened as part of the ongoing investigation.
According to ACB sources, Srinivasa Rao joined the Panchayat Raj Department as an Assistant Engineer in 1990 and served in various capacities in Vizianagaram and Visakhapatnam districts. He was later promoted as Superintending Engineer and retired on December 31, 2025, on superannuation.
