Agartala: Feb 05. The National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD), in collaboration with the Voluntary Health Association of Tripura (VHAT), has formally launched a Tribal Development Fund (TDF) project under the Integrated Tribal Development Programme at Amarpur in Gomati district. The project aims to improve the socio-economic conditions of tribal and economically backward communities, with 200 beneficiaries to be covered under the initiative.
The project was inaugurated at a simple ceremony held at the New Market Community Hall. Senior officials from NABARD, district administration, and representatives of the implementing organisation were present at the event.
Addressing the gathering, NABARD General Manager Anil S. Kotmire said that NABARD extends support wherever there is a clear roadmap for improving livelihoods and socio-economic development.
He expressed confidence that the Amarpur TDF project would become a key driver of sustainable development in the area and would be implemented successfully.
In his welcome address, Dr Sujit Ghosh, Executive Director of the Voluntary Health Association of Tripura, stated that the organisation has been actively working across Tripura in sectors such as education, healthcare, and livelihood development. He highlighted that earlier TDF projects supported by NABARD were successfully implemented in Laljuri block of North Tripura, while another project covering 300 beneficiaries is currently underway in the Kalyanpur block of Khowai district. Dr Ghosh expressed optimism that the Amarpur project would significantly improve the living standards of local residents.
The inauguration programme was attended by Additional District Magistrate Subhash Acharya, Additional Sub-Divisional Magistrate of Amarpur Pritam Sarkar, Block Development Officer Utpal Das, along with other administrative officials and elected representatives.
Other speakers noted that such development initiatives, aligned with government welfare schemes, play a crucial role in strengthening rural livelihoods and improving overall socio-economic indicators in tribal areas.
According to the organisers, the TDF project will provide multi-dimensional support to beneficiaries and encourage sustainable livelihood practices aimed at long-term improvement in quality of life.
