Kakraban, Feb 03. Kakraban police achieved a major breakthrough within just three days by recovering a stolen motorcycle and arresting two accused involved in a daring bike theft that took place during the crowded Jamjuri Anandamela.
The incident occurred on February 1 (Sunday) around 8:30 pm, when a Super Splendor motorcycle belonging to Palatana resident Bijoy Das was stolen in front of the Jamjuri fair under Kakraban police station. The stolen bike bears registration number TR03G–7848. Soon after the theft, the owner lodged a written complaint at Kakraban police station, prompting an immediate investigation.
Acting on tip-off, police conducted a late-night operation on February 3 and successfully recovered the stolen motorcycle from a jungle near Durga Chowmuhani, adjacent to Marwari Tila, under Kakraban police station limits. During recovery, it was found that the number plate had been removed in an attempt to conceal the bike’s identity.
In connection with the case, police first arrested Shyamal Das (25). Further investigation led to the arrest of another accused, Subrata Patowari (23).
According to police sources, both individuals were directly involved in the theft.
