Tripura, 02 Feb 2026: In a shocking incident highlighting alleged negligence in electrical infrastructure work, two migrant labourers were critically injured after being electrocuted while working on a roadside power line in the Jamthum area under Kamalpur subdivision the incident occurred yesterday.
The injured workers have been identified as Kalima Uddin (20) and Mazarul Haque (20), both residents of Bihar, according to local sources.
Residents alleged that the power line work was being carried out under the responsibility of a private company named Medina India, and that adequate safety measures were not in place at the time of the incident. The situation took a more serious turn after the accident, as an engineer associated with the company reportedly refused to provide any information to the media. No senior officials of the company were seen at the site; instead, only migrant workers from outside the state were found engaged in the hazardous work.

The incident has triggered strong resentment among local residents, who fear that such gross negligence and lack of accountability in high-risk electrical works could lead to even more serious accidents in the future, endangering the lives of numerous workers.
Locals have demanded a thorough investigation, strict action against those responsible, and immediate administrative intervention to ensure proper safety protocols for workers involved in hazardous power line operations.
