Udaipur, Feb 3: The third district-level Saras Mela 2026, organised by the District Mission Management Unit (DMMU) of Tripura Rural Livelihood Mission (TRLM), will be held at KBI Ground, Udaipur, from February 5 to February 9, 2026. The fair aims to promote products made by self-help groups (SHGs) and strengthen rural livelihoods, especially women’s entrepreneurship.
The announcement was made during a press conference held on Tuesday evening at the conference hall of the District Magistrate’s office, Gomati. The meet was attended by Gomati Zilla Parishad Sabhadhipati Debal Debroy, MLA Rampada Jamatia, Udaipur Municipal Council Chairperson Shital Chandra Majumdar, Additional District Magistrate Subhash Acharya, TRLM District Coordinator Abhinandan Deb, along with other officials.
Addressing the media, Debal Debroy said the fair is being organised as part of TRLM’s annual initiative to provide market access to SHG products. The mela will open daily for visitors from 3 pm onwards. The event will be formally inaugurated on February 5 by Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy, in the presence of legislators and senior administrative officials.
The fair will feature 50 stalls run by women SHG members, showcasing and selling handloom, handicrafts, food items and other rural products. Additionally, 30 stalls from various line departments will be set up. Cultural programmes will be held every evening to entertain visitors.
Officials said the main objective of the Saras Mela is to expand market opportunities for SHG products, promote women’s self-reliance, encourage local artisans and boost the rural economy. Last year, SHG members recorded sales worth Rs 37.5 lakh at the mela. This year, the organisers have set an ambitious sales target of around Rs 80 lakh.
The administration expressed confidence that the third district-level Saras Mela will emerge as a major platform for rural livelihood promotion and women empowerment in Gomati district.
