Tripura, 01 Feb 2026: Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Saturday welcomed the Union Budget, describing it as a “very good and people-oriented budget” built on three strong pillars—last-mile development, infrastructure expansion, and inclusive growth.
Reacting to criticism from the Opposition, Dr. Saha said that while opponents would continue to question the budget, the general public has already welcomed it. “A good budget has been presented. The people have accepted it positively,” he said.
Explaining the three pillars, the Chief Minister highlighted that the first focus is on last-mile development, in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of ensuring development reaches the most remote and marginalised sections. The second pillar, he said, is nationwide infrastructure development, while the third is the guiding principle of Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, ensuring inclusive growth for all.
Dr. Saha particularly welcomed the announcement of the Buddhist Circuit covering Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Sikkim, Manipur and Tripura, stating that it would significantly boost tourism in the North Eastern region. “Tourists will not visit just one place; they will travel across the entire circuit, which will benefit all these states,” he noted. He added that the Prime Minister has placed special emphasis on tourism in the North East, which is highly beneficial for the region.
The Chief Minister also pointed out proposals related to the introduction of e-buses in the North Eastern region, saying detailed information would be available soon and shared with the media. He termed the budget as “future-oriented,” especially for youth and farmers, with strong emphasis on agriculture, women empowerment and MSMEs.
He further said that the budget has prioritised key sectors such as health, roadways, connectivity, and high-speed trains, reflecting a comprehensive approach to development.
Thanking Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Dr. Saha expressed confidence that the results of this budget would be visible by 2030, and that India would achieve the target of becoming a Viksit Bharat by 2047.
