Agartala, Nov 30: Tripura Governor Indrasena Reddy Nallu on Sunday announced that the state’s Raj Bhavan will officially be renamed Lok Bhavan from December 1, 2025.
It was learnt that the development was took place following a decision of the central government.
The Governor said the existing name carries a hint of monarchy, which does not reflect a democratic system. “Since we live in a democracy where governments are elected, the name Raj Bhavan does not match the spirit of the system. That is why it has been renamed,” he said.
He further informed that the gates of the Governor’s residence will soon be opened to the public. Specific timings for public visits will be announced shortly, he added.
