Tripura, 29 Nov 2025: Police in Khowai recovered a quantity of narcotics from a rented house in Durganagar on Saturday and arrested one person in connection with the case. Once known as a cultural hub, Khowai had seen a surge in narcotics trade in previous years, though sustained police action had curbed much of the activity. Despite this, small-scale drug dealing continues in pockets of the town, prompting regular police operations.
According to reports, OC Ranjit Sarkar of Subhas Park Outpost received a tip-off on Saturday afternoon. The information suggested that narcotics were being stored for sale at the rented residence of Partha De in the Durganagar area. Acting on the input, a police team led by OC Sarkar raided the house. During the search, police recovered 72 SP (Super Phensedyl) bottles and 10 yaba tablets. Partha De was arrested on the spot and taken to the police station.
Police Statement – “Around 1:30 pm, we received information at the Subhas Park Outpost that Partha De, who lives as a tenant in the house of Sujit Sarkar, had stocked a large quantity of contraband with the intention of selling it. The tip-off also indicated that the items might be moved soon, so we needed to act quickly,” a police official said.
“Following proper authorization, we conducted the raid along with DCM Dipendra Debbarma and senior officers. During the search of Sujit Sarkar’s house, we recovered 72 bottles of SP Super Phensydyl and 10 yaba tablets. We also detained Partha De at the spot. As per NDPS procedures, necessary action is being taken, and both the accused and the seized materials have been brought to the police station.” Investigation is underway.
