Tripura, 29 Nov 2025: The College of Fisheries, Central Agricultural University (Imphal), Lembucherra, Tripura, actively participated in the live web telecast of the national launch of two major agricultural initiatives viz., the PM Dhan-Dhaanya Krishi Yojana and the Mission for Self-Reliance in Pulsesby the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi, held on 11th October 2025 at the National Agricultural Science Complex (NASC), Pusa, New Delhi. The event was streamed live across agricultural and allied institutions throughout the country.
The telecast was viewed by the Dean, faculty members, non-teaching staff, students, and farmers at the ATIC Hall, College of Fisheries.The event recorded the participation of 136 individuals, including 86 males and 50 females from different sections of the College and local farming community.The programme commenced with a brief overview of the objectives and importance of these landmark schemes, which aim to enhance food security, increase farmers’ income, and promote sustainable rural livelihoods as the nation enters the Rabi sowing season.
Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Hon’ble Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare and Rural Development, reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to farmer welfare, highlighting initiatives such as Kisan Credit Cards, Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT), Fasal Bima Yojana, and enhanced MSP to promote inclusive and sustainable agricultural growth.
In his address, the Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi highlighted the Government of India’s unwavering commitment to advancing agricultural development, enhancing productivity, promoting value addition, and ensuring farmer welfare. He emphasized that innovation, sustainability, and self-reliance are pivotal to transforming India’s agri-food systems and strengthening the nation’s rural economy. He further underlined the role of the PM Dhan-Dhaanya Krishi Yojana in improving post-harvest management and boosting farmers’ income through better storage and market linkages. The Prime Minister also mentioned the Mission for Self-Reliance in Pulses, aimed at achieving full domestic sufficiency in pulse production and reducing import dependence.
