Tripura, 28 Nov 2025; Fed up with the alleged commission trade of MLA Rampada Jamatia, residents of West Khupilong finally took to the streets in protest. On Friday morning, starting around 10 a.m., locals blocked the Udaipur–Khupilong–Atharabhola road by burning tires, leading to massive traffic jams on both sides.

According to locals, MLA Rampada Jamatia has failed to carry out any developmental work in the area for years. Despite repeated appeals for drainage construction and road repairs, the MLA allegedly turned a deaf ear to their concerns. Frustrated, the residents approached the District Magistrate, who later inspected the area and ordered the construction of a new drainage system.
The work was supposed to begin under the supervision of an engineer. However, when the engineer arrived for inspection, a group of miscreants led by Deputy Chief Jaharlal Nandi reportedly obstructed him. This incident further enraged the local residents.
They allege that the project was deliberately handed over to a “commission business,” which they refuse to accept. In protest, they blocked the road, expressing anger toward both Deputy Chief Jaharlal Nandi and MLA Rampada Jamatia.
The demonstrators declared firmly, “We will not leave the road until the District Magistrate himself comes and takes steps to resolve the issue.”
