Agartala, Nov 27: In a remarkable display of integrity, a teenage boy from Agartala has become the talk of the town after returning a bundle of cash he found in a busy market area. The boy, identified as Rahul Ghosh and aged around 14–15, spotted the money while walking through the market and chose to hand it over without hesitation to the Bazar Committee authorities.
Treasurer of the Bazar Committee, Harimadhab Debnath, received the cash from Rahul and later interacted with media persons. He said the Committee was deeply impressed by the boy’s honesty and has decided to felicitate him in the coming days.
According to Debnath, no one has come forward to claim the amount yet. He clarified that the Committee will follow due procedure: if anyone arrives with proper evidence, the money will be returned to its rightful owner; and if the amount remains unclaimed within the stipulated period, it will be handed over to the authorities as per protocol.
Bazar Committee Secretary, Madhab Chandra Dutta, visited the spot on Thursday and reviewed the situation. Officials praised Rahul’s conduct, calling it a rare example for society—especially at a time when incidents of lost belongings going unreported are common.
Local residents also appreciated the boy’s honesty, describing his action as a “model gesture” that reflects the values young citizens can uphold.
