Tripura, 27 Nov 2025: A man’s body was recovered from beneath the sand on the Muhuri River char on Thursday around 2 PM. According to reports, Bilonia Police Station informed the SDPO of Shantir Bazar Subdivision after local residents noticed parts of a human body buried under the sand.
Upon receiving the information, the Officer-in-Charge of Baikhora Police Station, the OC of Bilonia Police Station, and Shantir Bazar SDPO Bappi Debbarma rushed to the spot. They conducted the recovery operation along with a forensic team and a dog squad, eventually retrieving the body from beneath the sand.
It has been learned that the deceased had been missing since 16 November. The deceased has been identified as Jain Chandra Uchai (65), a resident of Sarat Chandra Uchai Para in Ratanpur ADC Village.
The exact cause of death will be revealed after the post-mortem examination. Speaking to the media, SDPO Bappi Debbarma detailed the unusual circumstances under which the body was discovered.
