Tripura, 26 Nov 2025: The Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) on Wednesday inaugurated a new fleet of Mobile Medical Units (MMUs), strengthening healthcare delivery in remote and hard-to-reach tribal regions. The initiative, launched in collaboration with Apollo Foundation and Total Health, aims to provide doorstep medical support including basic diagnostics, consultations, preventive care and early-stage treatment.
The launch programme was attended by Chief Executive Member Purna Chandra Jamatia, Chief Executive Officer Shri Raval Hamendra Kumar (IAS), Executive Member for Health Kamal Kalai, and Member of Legislative Assembly Biswajit Kalai. Officials noted that the MMUs will significantly reduce healthcare gaps in the district council areas and ensure timely services for thousands of families.

The “Healthcare on Wheels” unit showcased during the event reflects TTAADC’s commitment to expanding equitable health services across interior villages. According to officials, the units will operate on a district-wise roster, visiting each village twice every month in coordination with zonal and sub-zonal administrations.
Royal scion Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarma, speaking at the programme, highlighted that the initiative will ease the burden on rural residents who currently travel long distances to Agartala for primary treatment. He said the availability of doctors, nurses and basic diagnostic support within villages will bring substantive relief to local households and improve early intervention.

He acknowledged the support extended by Apollo Foundation and Altius Group, who have provided six Mobile Medical Units and created 30 local jobs under Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). He noted that while an earlier proposal for state funding did not materialise, assistance eventually came through CSR contributions led by Altius Group’s leadership.
Pradyot also urged companies operating in Tripura to direct CSR resources toward community-centric initiatives such as school development, smart classrooms, sports infrastructure and efforts to curb drug abuse among youth. He emphasised that constructive CSR engagement can meaningfully contribute to the region’s social progress.
A representative of the partner organisations confirmed that the service has been committed for a minimum of three years, with scope for extension based on impact and community response.
