Tripura, 26 Nov 2025: As part of the observance of the upcoming International Day of Persons with Disabilities on December 3, a high-level meeting was held today at the conference hall of the Social Welfare & Social Education Department in Ujan Abhoynagar to plan the Khelo Tripura Para Games 2025. The initiative aims to promote and showcase the talents of persons with disabilities across the state.
The meeting was attended by Tapan Kumar Das, Additional Secretary and Director of the Social Welfare & Social Education Department, L. Darlong, Director of Youth Affairs & Sports, Dilip Kumar Debbarma, Joint Director of Secondary Education, along with senior officials from the Rural Development, PWD, ICA, Higher Education, SC Development Corporation, TRLM, Composite Regional Centre and superintendents of various homes.
Chairing the discussion, Tapan Kumar Das announced that the state-level Khelo Tripura Para Games 2025 will be held from December 15–16 at the Dasharath Deb Memorial Stadium, Badharghat. The event will be formally inaugurated by Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha at 4 PM on December 15.
Ahead of the main event, district-level Khelo Tripura Para Games will be conducted simultaneously across all 8 districts on December 3. The district competitions will feature drawing contests, cultural programmes, and other activities. Winners securing the first, second and third positions from each district will qualify for the state-level competition. The event is jointly organized by the Social Welfare & Social Education Department and the Youth Affairs & Sports Department.
At the state venue in Badharghat, various departments will set up stalls under the initiative of the Rural Development Department. These stalls will showcase artworks from the drawing competition, bamboo and cane craft, handloom and handicraft items, SHG products, NGO exhibits and departmental displays. Information on government schemes and facilities available for persons with disabilities will also be highlighted.
This year’s Khelo Tripura Para Games will include a wide range of competitions such as shot put, tug of war, 50m race, blind cricket, ring throw, musical chairs, long jump, chess, wheelchair race, carrom, swimming, standing board jump, bocce, recitation and more. Officials from various departments also shared their action plans for the upcoming programme during the meeting.
