IG Ramesh Reddy: “Tripura is committed to a Drug-Free Future”
Speaking during the procedure, IG Ramesh Reddy reiterated the government’s strong focus on prevention, enforcement, and public cooperation.
“The government’s priority is preventive policing. We engage with schools, local communities, sports events and cultural platforms to create awareness. Citizens can report drug-related information through toll-free numbers 112 and 1933. NDPS offences are non-bailable, and strict action will follow,” he said.
He added that illegal drug trafficking, particularly smuggling routes linked to neighbouring regions and cross-border networks, remains under constant monitoring.
Collective Role in Prevention
The IG highlighted that students and teenagers are at higher risk of victimisation and urged parents, teachers and youth to remain alert. He noted that rehabilitation programmes are available through the Social Welfare and Health Departments for individuals battling addiction.
He also thanked the media for its active presence and encouraged continued awareness efforts to support Tripura’s mission for a Nasha-Mukt Tripura.
