Tripura, 25 Nov 2025: The state government is fully committed to strengthening the education and healthcare sectors, ensuring that there is no shortage of qualified human resources. Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha said this today while inaugurating the appointment letter distribution ceremony for Physical Education Teachers and Special Educators at Muktdhara Auditorium.
He informed that, including appointments under the die-in-harness scheme, a total of 20,181 individuals have been provided government jobs across various departments so far. Of these, 6,998 candidates have been appointed as PGTs, GTs, and UGTs in the Education Department alone. The government’s priority, he emphasized, is to ensure quality education for students and a student-friendly learning environment in all educational institutions.

Under the School Education Department, 102 Physical Education Teachers and 55 Special Educators received appointment letters today, with the Chief Minister handing over letters to a few candidates symbolically.
During his address, the Chief Minister reiterated that the present government has maintained complete transparency in recruitment. “No one can now claim that jobs are given on political grounds. If you are qualified, you will get the job,” he asserted. Congratulating the appointees, he said the day marks a joyful milestone for them and their families one they will cherish for life. He urged the new recruits to stay updated, prepare thoroughly before entering classrooms, and treat classrooms with the sanctity of a temple. Sharing his own experience of staying connected with his teachers, he encouraged them to build lasting bonds with their students.

The Chief Minister noted that the National Education Policy introduced under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi aims to revive India’s heritage-based education system. Over 5,000 contractual and outsourcing jobs have also been provided so far. To transform the state’s educational landscape, several initiatives such as Nipun Tripura, CM Saath, Mission Mukul, Saharsh, the conversion of 125 schools into Vidyajyoti schools, 84 schools into PM-Shri schools, and the launch of CM Kanya Atmanirbhar Yojana have been undertaken.
Tripura now has a robust higher education structure with three MBBS colleges, nursing colleges, ANM & GNM colleges, and colleges for agriculture, fisheries, and veterinary sciences. Renowned institutions like IIIT, National Law University, National Forensic Sciences University, NIT, and several private universities are also functioning in the state. Under the Lakshya scheme, support has been extended so far to 10 aspirants preparing for national competitive examinations.
Speaking on recent developments, the Chief Minister highlighted that during the recent North East Business Summit held in New Delhi, Memorandums of Understanding worth around ₹30,000 crore were signed with the eight northeastern states of which Tripura alone secured MoUs worth nearly ₹15,000 crore. He said such achievements are possible because the state upholds the rule of law.
Special Secretary Ravel Hemendra Kumar, addressing the programme, stressed that teachers today must focus on cultivating teamwork among students. He said there are around 3,500 specially-abled students across 1,200 schools in the state, and the government is taking necessary measures for their welfare.
Welcoming the attendees, Director of School Education N. C. Sharma said Physical Education Teachers will be posted in Vidyajyoti Schools, where physical education will be taught as an academic subject. Special Educators will be responsible for training specially-abled students.
Also present at the event were Director of Elementary Education Rajib Dutta and SCERT Director L. Darlong, along with officials from various departments and family members of the appointees.
