Tripura, 24 Nov 2025: In a significant breakthrough, Arundhutinagar Police on Monday evening arrested three individuals with two factory-made pistols and four magazines near the Bangeswar Bridge stretch of the Amtali Bypass. The operation unfolded after patrol personnel noticed the trio behaving suspiciously in the area.
Senior officials West District SP Namit Pathak, Additional SP Dhrubanath, SDPO Amtali Parmita Pandey, and police officer Sushanta Deb confirmed the seizure.

According to police, one of the arrested men, identified as Subhash Kumar from Dumaria Khurd, Bihar, had arrived in Tripura earlier today by train, carrying the two pistols with him. The other two accused Samarendra and Rinku/Tinku Debbarma are residents of Barkathal, Tripura. Police have also seized an auto-rickshaw used by one of them.
During the spot-check, officers recovered two factory-made small arms, four magazines, and three mobile phones. No live rounds were found.
“We noticed suspicious activity during routine checking at Amtali Bypass. On interrogation, two factory-made small arms and four magazines were recovered,” the police officer said. He added that the weapons appear to be locally manufactured in a factory setup and bear no foreign markings.
A case under the Arms Act has been registered. Investigators are now probing the source of the weapons, their intended recipients, and the motive behind bringing them into Tripura.
“It is under investigation where the weapons came from, whom they were meant for, and whether more individuals are involved,” the officer said, adding that further clarity is expected after detailed interrogation and analysis of the seized mobile phones.
Police are also examining whether the arrest has any links to previous recoveries made in the district.
The investigation is ongoing.
