Agartala, Nov 19 2025: The Tripura Government has approved a major administrative and academic expansion by clearing the creation and filling of more than 400 posts across multiple departments, alongside upgrading two major institutions into full-fledged universities.
Following a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha, Cabinet spokesperson Sushanta Chowdhury said the Cooperative Department will fill 97 vacant Group-C posts, including auditors, investigators and statistical investigators, through the Joint Recruitment Board of Tripura (JRBT).
The cabinet has also approved recruitment of 28 ICDS supervisors under the Social Welfare and Social Education Department through direct recruitment and the Tripura Public Service Commission (TPSC). In the Urban Development Department, 14 new technical posts—including civil, mechanical, electrical and public health engineering positions—have been sanctioned.
Under the ICA Department, eight faculty members and supporting staff will be engaged on a contractual basis for the Tripura Film and Television Institute. The Directorate of Secondary Education will appoint 22 night guards under fixed-pay Group-D posts.
In a significant push to the education sector, the cabinet has decided to upgrade the Tripura Institute of Technology (TIT) to a Technical University, bringing all technical institutions under a single academic framework. Government Women’s College will also be elevated to Tripura Government Women’s University to expand higher education opportunities for women.
Additionally, the government has approved the opening of 119 new Anganwadi centres along with posts for 119 Anganwadi workers and 119 helpers.
Chowdhury confirmed that amendments to the Tripura Journalist Pension Scheme have also been cleared to simplify procedures and bring more working journalists under the scheme’s coverage.
