Agartala: Nov 18. North Tripura has once again brought pride to the state, securing the Best Performing District in the North East & Hilly Zone under the Jal Sanchay Jan Bhagidari (JSJB) campaign of the Ministry of Jal Shakti. The district was felicitated by the President of India, Droupadi Murmu received by District Magistrate Chandni Chandran, during a national event held on 18 November at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi.
As part of the honour, North Tripura received Rs 2 crore in award money, marking a major national-level recognition for its outstanding efforts in water conservation. Between February and May 2025, the district created over 11,000 water conservation structures, placing it at the forefront of community-led water management in the country.
Officials said the achievement highlighted the relentless work of district administrators, the support of elected representatives, and the strong ownership shown by local residents, all of whom contributed to making North Tripura a model district in sustainable water stewardship.
