Agartala, Nov 18, 2025: Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Monday said the Public Works Department was directed to start gearing up for Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) 2.0.
During a review of the Drinking Water and Sanitation (DWS) Department, the Chief Minister stated that Tripura is waiting for the Centre’s detailed guidelines and financial allocations for JJM 2.0.
He also instructed the DWS team to begin early preparations and focus on securing water sources across all schemes.

He added that officers must frame an Operations & Maintenance (O&M) policy to keep drinking water sources and related assets functional throughout the year. “Quality must remain uncompromised in every stage of work,” Dr. Saha wrote in a social media post.
The Water Resources, DWS and Forest Departments have also been asked to work together on strengthening rainwater conservation using scientific approaches.
Later in the day, the Chief Minister shifted focus to Agartala’s transport system, holding a detailed review on mobility challenges in the city. He examined proposals for upgrading Battala Market, improving the Gol Bazar–Netaji Chowmuhani stretch and the broader Comprehensive Mobility Plan (CMP) at the TIFT War Room.
Secretaries Kiran Gitte and Abhishek Singh, along with senior officials, attended the review meetings.
