Tripura, 17 Nov 2025: In the dry season, several remote areas under Tulasikhar and Mungiakami blocks in Khowai district face an acute shortage of drinking water. With natural water sources drying up, the scarcity becomes severe. In previous years, both blocks had arranged temporary measures to supply limited water to specific villages using small vehicles.
To ease the suffering of residents during this difficult period, two new drinking water tanker vehicles have been purchased through the MP Local Area Development Fund (MPLAD) of MP Kriti Devi Singh Debbarma.
Today, in a programme held at the Khowai District Magistrate’s office, these two water tankers were formally dedicated for public service. The tankers will carry water directly from the water supply projects to the neighbourhoods in the affected areas.
MP Kriti Devi Debbarma flagged off the two newly procured tankers and handed them over to the authorities of Tulasikhar Block and Mungiakami Block to ensure timely delivery of drinking water to the people.

MP Kriti Devi Debbarma’s Remarks
Speaking at the event, MP Kriti Devi Debbarma said:
“Today, two tanker vehicles have been provided from the MPLAD Fund for those areas where there was a severe shortage of water. This has been possible because of the dedicated efforts of our team — the Khowai DM and the entire district officials. I sincerely thank all of you for helping fulfil this long-standing need of our people.
Where water barely reached earlier, we have now been able to provide some support. Going forward, I would like to ensure more water tanks for the areas in our district that continue to face shortages.
Whatever schemes come from the government that can benefit our people, I will make sure they reach them. I am very happy today — it is a great opportunity for me and my team that we have been able to provide water tanks for regions suffering from scarcity.
I hope that in the next one or two years, we will be able to cover all districts of Tripura that fall under my constituency. Thank you so much — thank you sir, thank you DM sir, and thanks to the public for always supporting me.”
