Tripura, 17 Nov 2025: A devastating accident at Hakutwisa–Dumachhara on Monday has left an entire community in grief, after a mother lost her three-year-old child in a tragic road mishap.
The family was returning home after withdrawing money from a bank when a speeding car (registration number TR04E 0757) suddenly lost control and rammed into them in the Hakutwisa market area.
The child, identified as 3-year-old Ram Debbarma, was rushed to the hospital immediately, but doctors declared him dead on arrival. Eyewitnesses alleged that the vehicle was being driven by a drunk driver, turning a normal day into a nightmare for the grieving mother.
The mother, who was carrying her son at the time of the accident, broke down in uncontrollable tears as she watched her only child slip away in her arms.
Upon learning of the tragedy, MLA Paul Dangshu visited the hospital to console the family. He later posted an emotional message on social media:
“What can be more heartbreaking than a three-year-old child dying in a mother’s arms after a tragic accident, where an out-of-control car hit the child in our Hokutwisa market today. Will be standing by the family in all possible way. Please drive responsibly everyone.”
The incident has sparked widespread mourning in the area, with residents demanding strict action against reckless and drunk driving. Authorities are investigating the case.
