Tripura, 17 Nov 2025: A fatal road accident occurred on National Highway 208 in the Saika Bari area under Kamalpur Police Station, where two vehicles collided head-on on a sharp bend. One driver of the oil tanker died on the spot; his identity is yet to be ascertained. The other driver, identified as Mostafa (32) from Darrang district, Assam, was critically injured and referred to Kulai Dhalai District Hospital.
According to co-driver Rafiqul Islam, at around 4 PM, a vegetable-laden truck bearing registration AS 28 AC 0890 was travelling from Assam towards Agartala. While negotiating a bend at Saika Bari, the truck collided head-on with a 12-wheeler oil tanker coming from the opposite direction, registered as NL 01K 2604. The impact crushed both vehicles. The co-driver survived the crash.


Fire service personnel managed to extricate the oil tanker driver with great difficulty and shifted him to Bimal Singh Memorial Hospital, where the attending doctors declared him dead.
Upon receiving information, Kamalpur Police rushed to the spot and initiated further investigation.
