Tripura, 15 Nov 2025: Tripura has long been a meeting ground for various communities, including both tribal and non-tribal groups. To promote their diverse cultural heritage and boost the state’s tourism sector, the Unity Promo Fest has been playing a significant role. Such events are expected to further expand the visibility and appeal of Tripura’s tourist destinations. Governor Indra Sena Reddy Nallu expressed this view while inaugurating the two-day Unity Promo Fest today at the Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar College Ground in Belonia, organized by the Tourism Department.
In his inaugural address, Governor Indra Sena Reddy Nallu said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given special emphasis on the promotion and development of tourist destinations across the Northeastern states. The tourism potential of the Northeast is being showcased across various states in the country through exhibitions, helping draw more tourists to the region. The Governor added that Tripura’s Tourism Department has been introducing numerous initiatives throughout the year to attract domestic and foreign visitors. He wished the Unity Promo Fest great success.

Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury stated that the Unity Promo Fest has been launched to strengthen the blended cultural heritage of tribal and non-tribal communities and to further develop the state’s tourism industry. Last year, the fest was held in four districts and received an overwhelming response. This year, with the inclusion of South Tripura and Gomati districts, the fest is being organized across six districts, each for two days. The goal is to showcase Tripura’s culture at the national and international levels while creating income and employment opportunities through tourism. He added that such events would help promote the state’s tourist attractions and generate livelihood opportunities.
Also present at the event were South Tripura Zilla Parishad Sabhadhipati Deepak Datta, MLAs Pramod Reang, Mailafru Mog, Swapna Majumder, South Tripura District Magistrate Mohammad Sajjad P., Superintendent of Police Maurya Krishna C., among others. The programme was presided over by Nikhil Chandra Gopal, Chairperson of Belonia Municipal Council.
The inaugural ceremony featured a captivating cultural performance by artists from South Tripura district. The event also included a laser show, tribal fashion show, and various other attractions.
