Agartala:Nov 15. Gomati district has pulled off a major public-health flex this year, maintaining zero deaths from vector-borne diseases like Dengue and Malaria due to an all-out strategy combining mass testing, heavy-duty spraying, and relentless community awareness.
At the heart of the district’s success were two wide-scale rounds of Cyfluthrin 10% WP insecticide spraying, covering 16,000 households in May and September through 14 dedicated field teams. Alongside this, the Health Department and NHM ensured rapid treatment: out of 1,994 Dengue tests and 2,698 ELISA tests, only five cases were detected, all treated immediately.
Malaria surveillance was pushed even harder. By October 2025, 147,019 tests were conducted including 91,830 tests for symptomatic individuals resulting in 119 positive cases, all treated free of cost. This marks a sharp drop from 2024’s 486 positive cases, supported by the earlier distribution of 108,907 Long-Lasting Insecticidal Nets in high-risk zones.
Community engagement remained a major pillar, with 219 health camps held since January. A roaming Publicity Vehicle is currently spreading awareness, while committees like Village Health, Sanitation and Nutrition Committee (VHSNC) and Jana Arogya Samiti (JAS) continue amplifying health messaging at the grassroots.
