Tripura, 15 Nov 2025: The CEM Purna Chandra Jamatia on Saturday emphasised that unity among all religions must remain the core strength of Tiprasa, as he distributed 25 keyboards to Christian organisations at Nayungma Hall in Raio Kami Killa through the MDC Local Area Development Fund.
Jamatia said the dream of Bubagra Pradyot Bikram Manikya Debbarma is a society where every religion is respected, celebrated, and acknowledged. “If we start dividing ourselves based on belief, even living together becomes difficult,” he cautioned.
He reminded the gathering that the Twipra Kingdom has upheld secular values since Maharaja’s time, long before its merger with India. The Manikya rulers, he said, never discriminated among communities and ensured protection and support for anyone in need. He also added that India’s modern secular ideals drew inspiration from the Manikya Dynasty itself, noting that Maharaja Bir Bikram Manikya had clearly documented his dominion as independent and secular in his written constitution.
Jamatia stated that any hatred between religions was “not ours, but brought in by outsiders,” reinforcing that Tiprasa society has historically stood for coexistence.
He further highlighted the significant contribution of Christian missionaries towards the upliftment of Tiprasa people in education and social development.
Turning to arts and sports, the CEM pointed out that despite a smaller population, Tiprasa youth continue to excel citing icons like R.D. Burman, S.D. Burman, and Indian Idol winner Sourabhee Debbarma. He noted that unlike elections, “music and sports don’t require majority numbers,” and said the new instruments would help spark greater interest and growth in the musical field.
