Agartala: Nov 15. In a major push to expand organic cultivation, the Agriculture Department organised an awareness programme at Gunapada Memorial Hall under Mission Organic Value Chain Development for North Eastern Region (MOVCDNER) – Phase-IV.
Bagma MLA Rampada Jamatia, Killa BAC Chairperson Bagan Hari Molsom, Deputy Director of Agriculture (DDA) of Agriculture Department SA Shubhendu Majumder, the Gomati district DDO and other officials attended the event.
A total of 500 farmers from four Village Committees of Killa Block joined the workshop, receiving hands-on training on organic methods, market linkage and government support schemes.
The key highlight was the financial assistance each farmer and beneficiary received ₹7,525 for seed procurement to promote organic cultivation.
Officials stated that MOVCDNER Phase-IV aims to bring more farmers into organic farming while ensuring training, financial aid and market support.
The programme concluded successfully, giving renewed momentum to the region’s organic farming movement.
